Oksana Chepurna, PhD
Postdoctoral Scientist

Oksana earned her MS in biomedical engineering from Cherkasy State Technological University, Ukraine, and her PhD from Vinnitsa National Technical University, Ukraine. Previous work includes designing a laser scanning system guided by fluorescence of the photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy of cancer, and in fiber optics design and laser device development for biomedical applications. During her postdoctoral fellowship in Shenzhen University, she designed and characterized nano-formulations containing near-infrared (NIR) dyes and polymeric nanoparticles for multimodal bioimaging and image-guided phototherapy of cancer. Currently in the Patil Lab, she’s working on boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) with a focus on targeted delivery of high concentration of boron-10 rich nanodrugs across the blood-brain barrier to treat glioblastoma multiforme (GBM).
