Chrisandra Shufelt, MD, MS, NCMP
Associate Director, Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center / Assistant Director, Preventive Cardiac Center

The Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center is designed to help women reduce their chance of heart disease through a preventive approach, including state-of-the-art screening and diagnostic testing. Associate Director Chrisandra Shufelt, MD, MS, NCMP, is a women’s health expert. Her clinical interests focus on contraceptive and menopause hormone use with particular attention to assessing women with or at risk for heart disease. She directs the Women's Hormone and Menopause Program that provides personalized menopause system treatment (hormone and non-hormone options), high-risk hormone counseling for women with or at risk for heart disease, and cardiac risk assessments. She also treats resistant high blood pressure and complex blood cholesterol disorders.

Roberta Gottlieb, MD
Research Scientist, Heart Institute

Roberta Gottlieb, MD, joined the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute and Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center in September 2013. She is conducting translational research on ischemia/reperfusion injury and cardioprotection with an emphasis on the effects of age and metabolic syndrome on adaptive autophagy and cardioprotection. Gottlieb is principal investigator on a prestigious NIH Program Project grant and has published more than 100 papers in respected peer-reviewed journals, as well as many review articles and book chapters. She was the editor for Autophagy in Health and Disease, a textbook recently published by Academic Press. Gottlieb holds four patents and has founded two biotech startups, Radical Therapeutix in 2005 and TissueNetix in 2011.

Jennifer Van Eyk, PhD
Director, Advanced Clinical Biosystems Research Institute

Jennifer Van Eyk, PhD, is a prominent proteomic and cardiac scientist and has been named the inaugural director of Cedars-Sinai's Advanced Clinical Biosystems Research Institute. She leads basic research at Cedars-Sinai's Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center aimed at unlocking the mysteries of gender differences in heart disease. In addition to publishing numerous research articles on her work, Van Eyk has co-edited books on clinical proteomics, including Clinical Proteomics: From Diagnosis to Therapy and Proteomic and Genomic Analysis of Cardiovascular Disease.

Margo B. Minissian, ACNP-BC, CLS-BC, CNS, AACC, FA
Cardiology Nurse Practitioner, Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center

Margo B. Minissian, ACNP-BC, CLS-BC, CNS, AACC, FA, is nationally board-certified as an acute care nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and holds California licensures as an acute care nurse practitioner and a clinical nurse specialist. Her primary research interests focus on women and heart disease, specifically microvascular disease and endothelial wall dysfunction in women. Minissian is a co-investigator at Cedars-Sinai.

Janet Wei, MD
Cardiologist, Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center

Janet Wei, MD, treats persistent chest pain, microvascular dysfunction, atherosclerosis, hypertension, high cholesterol and heart failure. In addition to cardiology, she is board certified in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and cardiac computed tomography. Wei received her medical degree from Northwestern University and completed her internal medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai. She remained at Cedars-Sinai for her general cardiology fellowship and was a Chief Cardiology Fellow in 2012-2013. She completed an additional year of advanced training in women’s heart disease as the 2013-2014 Constance Austin Women's Heart Fellow at the Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center.
