Service Divisions
The Biobank and Translational Research Core consists of four service areas, each extremely prolific in terms of their available resources, output and application of technical expertise.
This biorepository currently houses more than 60,000 biospecimens and offers services including prospective collections, biospecimen processing and -80° celsius freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks for storage.
Research pathology, histology and immunohistochemistry services with methodology that flexes to the unique goals of the researcher.
State-of-the-art research instrumentation is available for self-use and instrumentation training for personnel who want to reserve and use instruments on their own.
Imaging and digital image analysis tools and instruments for quantitative biospecimen measurements.
Services Overview
The Biobank and Translational Research Core facilitates workflows in a wide array of service categories, including tissue staining, storage and data services, translational research and biospecimen collection.
For Patients
Patients can directly benefit research at Cedars-Sinai through the Biobank and Translational Research Core by consenting to donating their leftover tissue, blood, and body fluid samples at the time of the procedure or surgery. Patients can also permit the Core to access their medical records for limited and secure extraction of specific datasets.
