2021 Summer Programs

Application Process and Timeline


Applications closed on Friday, April 30, 2021.

Students will be informed if they are accepted to the program in mid-May. Those who are eligible, but are not accepted, will be placed on a waitlist. Final waitlist decisions will be made in June. For more information about the application process, check out the FAQs.

Program Details

Introduction to Healthcare and Medicine

Topics: Introduction to Cedars-Sinai Departments; Clinical, Research, Administrative and Allied Health Career Exploration and Hot Topics in Healthcare. Additional optional college preparation sessions will be available to program participants.
Dates: July 12-16, 2021
Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Daily
Eligibility: Students who will be in middle school or high school in the 2021-22 school year.

Deep Dive Into Research

Topics: Research Career Exploration, Hot Topics in Research and Research Best Practices
Dates: July 19-23, 2021
Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Daily
Students: Students age 14+ who will be in high school, community college or an undergraduate program in the 2021-22 school year.

The Future of Medicine: Building a Pipeline of Diverse Healthcare Professionals

Topics: Healthcare Topics, Career Exploration, Networking, Mentorship, and Applying to Graduate School
Dates: July 26-30, 2021
Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Daily
Eligible Students: Students who will be in a community college, undergraduate or postbaccalaureate program during the 2021-22 school year.
Additional Eligibility Requirements: This program open to students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in medicine, healthcare and research. This includes, but is not limited to: Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC); women; low-income; first-generation; LGBTQIA+; persons with disabilities and protected veterans.

Student FAQs

Applications will be open in March. There will be separate applications for each program. Students should apply to each program they are interested in.

Yes. Students are encouraged to apply for all programs that they are eligible for and interested in. Space is limited, so students may be accepted to one program and waitlisted for another.

Yes, however preference will be given to students in the L.A.-county area.

Preference will be given to students who are able to attend the full week. If you are unable to attend the full week, you may be waitlisted or denied from the program depending on space. Students who are accepted but do not complete the full week will not receive a certificate of completion.

Yes! Students who participate in these programs can still participate in future Cedars-Sinai programs.

The programs will all be held virtually. Students will need a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone with internet capabilities to access the session.

Participants will be required to track their participation hours through an online system. At the end of the program, the program team will review hours tracked. Those who tracked their participation hours and successfully completed the program will be sent a certificate of completion via email.
